Pennsylvania's Southeastern Tilt

Since 1970, Pennsylvania’s population has shifted southeast and east, increasing the influence of the state’s younger, more affluent and urban residents. Of the 19 counties with a median household income higher than $45,000, only one — Butler County — is in the western part of the state.
