MONTGOMERY COUNTY: 2-for-1 tuition for county workers

BLUE BELL Montgomery County employees and members of their families can receive 2-for-1 tuition at Montgomery County Community College beginning this fall.

Montgomery County employees and members of their families can receive 2-for-1 tuition at Montgomery County Community College beginning this fall.

The program, announced Thursday, applies to full-time or part-time county staff, even if they live outside the county or outside Pennsylvania. The benefit extends to spouses, partners, and dependents up to age 26 who are still living with the employee.

Peggy Lee-Clark, the college's executive director of government relations and special projects, said the program is another example of how educational investments feed back into the county.

"Our recent graduate survey revealed that 68 percent of our alumni reside and work in the county. And 97 percent are employed within the commonwealth," she said.

To be eligible, the courses must be part of a credit-bearing degree or certificate program.

The county commissioners said the offer, along with a tuition-reimbursement program for full-time employees who obtain degrees related to their work, benefits the county and its constituents, as well.

"Our community is best served when every member of our team is working to their fullest and highest potential," said Commissioner Valerie A. Arkoosh. - Jessica Parks
