Concert Picks: Quebe Sisters, Colleen Green, Frankie Cosmos

Sisterhood will be doubly powerful Saturday in Sellersville. The headlining trio is the Quebe Sisters, the fiddling Western swing act of Burleson, Texas, siblings Hulda, Sophia and Grace, whose last name rhymes with "maybe." Since elementary school, the sisters, now in their 20s, have been honing their skills and the harmonies heard on their 2014 album, Every Which Way.

They'll be joined by openers the Hello Strangers. The team of Larissa Chace Smith and Brechlyn Chace advertise themselves as "Pennsyltucky Fried." Their more honky-tonk-flavored, self-titled 2014 album features a guest-vocal turn from Jim Lauderdale. - Dan DeLuca

Quebe Sisters with the Hello Strangers, 8 p.m. Saturday at Sellersville Theater, 24 W. Temple Ave., Sellersville. $19.50 and $29.50. 215-257-5808, st94.com.

Colleen Green

Better get to the TLA early Friday because the best part of a pop/punky four-band bill happens first. Colleen Green, the smart and funny California songwriter who finds herself opening for three one-word dude bands - British grunge-punks Basement and hard-core true believers Turnstile and Defeater - is a singular talent who makes deceptively simple, extremely catchy pop songs that are increasingly grappling with issues of existential substance.

Last year's excellent I Want to Grow Up dared to embrace maturity and face the fear of being truly alone. The new "Between the Lines," from a self-titled EP due in May, takes on death itself. Yikes! - Dan DeLuca

Basement, Turnstile, Defeater, and Colleen Green, 7:30 p.m. Friday at Theater of Living Arts, 334 South St. $15. 215-922-1011, livenation.com.

Frankie Cosmos

The world of Frankie Cosmos is compact and precise, introspective and insecure, understated and youthful. In other words: twee, in the best ways.

If her brief songs weren't so catchy and carefully observed, they might be insufferable - especially if one has any hesitations because Frankie Cosmos is the pseudonym of Greta Kline, daughter of actors Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates. But Next Thing, her second brief album (15 songs in less than 30 minutes), is charming and fully realized, even more so than on her equally winning debut, Zentropy.

Whether on perky rockers like "Is It Possible / Sleep Song," gentler tunes like "Fool," or eccentric ones like the increasingly desperate "If I Had a Dog," Cosmos confidently zeros in on moments of hesitation and doubt. She plays Saturday at the First Unitarian Church with two simpatico, similarly pseudonymous artists: Eskimeaux (Gabrielle Smith) and Yowler (Maryn Smith). - Steve Klinge

Frankie Cosmos, with Eskimeaux and Yowler, 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St. Sold out. 215-821-7575, r5productions.com.
