Adoption Center of Delaware Valley hosted a Celebration of the Family on April 23 at the Ballroom at the Ben, recognizing its supporters and adoptive families and children who have been brought together over the years. The night featured a moving tribute to Philadelphia Daily News sports columnist Stan Hochman, who died April 9 and had emceed the event for the last 20 years. The organization renamed its annual recognition the Stan Hochman Compassion for Kids Award in honor of Hochman's contributions to helping disadvantaged children find permanent families. The 240 attendees gave a standing ovation to Hochman's wife, Gloria, an author and director of communications for the center; and daughter Anndee. The award was presented to Allan Frank, a National Adoption Center board member and former Philadelphia chief technology officer, who had the early vision to place online photos and descriptions of children seeking adoption.
