Half Empty: Mayor Nutter's feelings hurt?

Only his shrink knows for sure.

The following is a partial transcript of Mayor Nutter's most recent session with his psychiatrist.

P: You look tired.

N: I am tired.

P: Rough week?

N: How would you feel if somebody called you a "Little Caesar"?

P: What do you think was meant by that?

N: That I am a pompous, imperious, tactless jerk without even knowing it?

P: Bingo.

N: It really hurt my feelings.

P: We've been through this before. You're the mayor. All people want to do is hurt your feelings.

N: I liked it better when I was a councilman.

P: You had no responsibility as a councilman.

N: Everybody wants something from me now. When they don't get it, they get nasty. How would you feel if somebody called you a "Little Caesar"?

P: I believe you already said that.

N: Plus, the guy who said it, he has some nerve.

P: Who said this to you?

N: Willie Brown, the head of Local 234 of the Transport Workers Union. They're the ones who went on strike against SEPTA. Have you ever seen the guy?

P: Does he live in Chestnut Hill?

N: There are no black people in Chestnut Hill.

Maybe Bissinger knows something about the key players in all this that I don't. Maybe it's just the way the news stories on this website portray them all. But from where I sit, it seems like the most fragile ego in the whole thing is Willie Brown's.

Bissinger obviously knows Michael Nutter well.

Perhaps if both Nutter and Rendell restored the cut in Viagra coverage (10 pills per month) in the contract we could all ride the subway to see the Eagles beat the Cowboys tonight.

Buzz, stick to writing books. This article isn't funny and it's a clumsy attempt at satire.

I echo BKScholar's remarks. Buzz, stick to writing books. This article isn't funny and it's a clumsy attempt at satire.

like the author's previous satirical pieces in this column, it reads like it was written by some snarkey high-schooler. really not funny. is there no editor?

This was lame. Was Buzz too busy making media appearances this week to do some actual writing? And didn't Tom Ferrick do this conceit better about 40 times already, probably for a lot less money?

I don't know if my last comment got posted, but basically I said that this column was NOT funny. Mayor Nutter was not the one who resorted to petty, unprofessional name-calling -- Willie Brown was.
