Sideshow: Life in prison for rapper C-Murder

Big Easy rapper C-Murder (Corey Miller), 38, was sentenced yesterday to a mandatory term of life in prison without parole in the '02 beating and fatal shooting of 16-year-old fan Steve Thomas at a Harvey, La., nightclub.

C- was found guilty in '03, but the conviction was overturned. He was retried and convicted Tuesday. The rapper recently pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder in a separate fight at a Baton Rouge club in '01.

Judge Blige on 'Idol'

Mary J. Blige will replace Paula Abdul replacement Victoria Beckham as a judge when American Idol rocks into Atlanta for its next set of auditions.

Sonic Youth on 'Gossip'

Post-punk Gen-X rock gods Sonic Youth will play an acoustic version of "Starpower" from their third LP, '86's EVOL, in a guest appearance this fall on the fifth episode of that Generation Zero favorite, Gossip Girl. (Why?)

A Gosselin spat

Anon sources say she yelled about Jon's alleged fling with nanny Stephanie Santoro, 23. Jon would not open the door. Someone called the cops. Kate went to a motel.
