Did the Phillies beat themselves in Game 2?
We're in great shape ?? Hamels vs Petitte and Sabathia vs Blanton the first 2 games in Philly ? I don't think I like our chances.
Why, after the first two innings didn't they realize they needed to start swinging early? That the guy was buzzing them on pitch #1? For all intents and purposes they should have just turned their backs to the plate and let him pitch away... it was the same result.

Its a 5 game series now with 3 games at home and 2 in a park we have already won in 3 out of 5 times this year. Keep the faith my brothers and sisters.
the end result is exactly what we'd have wanted, a split in ny bringing it back to philly so everyone who has WS tickets can see a game, it wouldn't have been fair to the game 5 ticket holders if we just won the first 4 games. nostrarollins effect!

Girardi is bringing CC and Burnett back on 3 days rest. Charlie has to go with Lee in Game 4 in case it goes 7. No doubt about it.

Exactly! I can't understand why everyone seems to want to blame Charlie Manuel for leaving Pedro in (or the umps, who were bad for both teams equally) as the reason they lost. They lost because they simply refused to swing at that first pitch meatball Burnett kept throwing up there!
Burnett was lights out. He had great stuff and great location. I agree that the Phillies should have been swinging at the first pitch, but, c'mon, let's give Burnett some credit. He was great (unfortunately).
Burnett threw a first ball fastball for a strike to almost every hitter he faced. The Phillies didn't adjust, and instead were made to look silly waving at unhittable curves later on in at bats. They needed to be agressive and were not.
The strikezone was huge last night. So many pitches outside were called for strikes. I won't take anything away from Burnett, but if he's pitching in game 1, with the first ump's small strikezone, he doesn't have such a dominant performance. Either way, the Phils didn't adjust to it.

StartSnitchin - I couldn't agree more! This loss has nothing to do with leaving Pedro in, and everything to do with watching fastballs go right down the middle of the plate. The first 10 hitters got one right down the middle on the first pitch. You'd think they would have figured that out by the 4th or 5th time. Pedro has a 2.08 ERA in this postseason, and is 0-1 to show for it. The offense is stinking up the joint when he pitches. (That said, the last strike call on Howard was BAD.)
