Inqlings: Foxx's visitor to get help
Steven Taliver was arrested March 31 outside the AKA Rittenhouse, where Foxx was living during filming of the thriller Law Abiding Citizen.
Foxx had been expecting someone else when he opened the door for Taliver, the actor told Assistant District Attorney Kelley Hodge. Hodge said that Foxx slammed the door and that Taliver never touched him or entered the room.
Foxx did not testify, but was "more than willing to cooperate," Hodge said.
Foxx was not after a hard time for Taliver. "He wanted my client to get some help," said Gregg Blender, a public defender.
Taliver's appearance before Common Pleas Court Judge David Shuter on Oct. 28 - Taliver's 50th birthday - also resolved a car-theft case that Taliver had skipped out on three years ago.
Taliver's sentence - 11 1/2 to 23 months - was satisfied by the seven months he served. He now is receiving treatment at a facility.
City bite
West Chester-bred caterer/dietitian Katie Cavuto Boyle, who appeared last season on The Next Food Network Star, is opening an organic market/takeout in the city: Healthy Bites To-Go will be at 2521 Christian St., in a space at Grays Ferry Avenue that previously was Whisk & Spoon. She says she hopes to open in two or three months.
Jay-Z had him canned?
After six months hosting mornings on the Beat (WPHI, 100.3), Charlamagne Tha God was shown the door Monday, sparking rumors that Jay-Z was behind the move. On Friday, Charlamagne interviewed Philly rapper Beanie Sigel, who had dissed the mogul (and his onetime Roc-A-Fella mentor) on a new track called "What You Talkin Bout (I Ain't Your Average Cat)."Not so, says Andy Rosen, who runs the Radio One stations in Philadelphia.
Charlamagne (Lenard McKelvey) is not convinced that J was involved, either. "They wanted to move in a different direction," he told me Tuesday, seemingly unworried about his own future, since he also contributes to Wendy Williams' show. He had a two-year deal.
Though Friday's show likely had many listeners, Charlamagne's overall ratings hadn't budged, except among men 18 to 34. (One could argue that six months is not exactly a long trial.)
Rosen said WPHI would continue to play music in the mornings and look for a new show.
