Inqlings: On radio, sounds like Series
It'll be scrapple meets apple on sports radio this week.
Two ESPN stations - Philly's 97.5 The Fanatic and New York's 1050 ESPN - will simulcast their afternoon shows tomorrow, before the first game of the World Series.
The show will pair Philly's Mike Missanelli and New York's Michael Kay from 2 to 7 p.m. from the Dugout, a bar on River Avenue in the Bronx, across from Yankee Stadium. From 7 to 8 p.m., both stations will continue coverage with a pregame show from the Dugout, and both stations will carry the national feed of the game.
CBS stations WIP (610 Philly) and The Fan (660 New York) tomorrow will do "The Battle of the Broads," as in Broadway vs. Broad Street. CBS has local rights to the Phillies on WPHT (1210). WIP midday personalities Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow will debate The Fan's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts from the Chickie's & Pete's in Bordentown - near the imaginary demarcation line between North and South Jersey.
WIP will be on the air from Town Tavern in Greenwich Village tomorrow (with Howard Eskin and Ike Reese from 3 to 7 p.m.) and on Thursday (both Gargano/Macnow and Eskin/Reese).
Atlantic City seems to draw equal numbers of Philadelphians and New Yorkers. On Friday morning, the Borgata will host WIP's Angelo Cataldi and his crew, as usual, in front of Gypsy Bar from 6 to 10, while at the same time across the casino floor in B Bar, the Borgata will host Boomer & Carton, the morning show from WFAN.
