Harold Jackson is the editor of the editorial page. He became deputy editor of The Inquirer's Editorial Page in 2004, after being cooordinator of the newspaper's zoned daily commentary and Sunday Voices pages.

Jackson has also been an editorial writer at the Baltimore Sun and the Birmingham (Ala.) News. While at the News, he and two colleagues won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing in 1991 for a series on changing Alabama's tax system. He also worked for United Press International and the Birmingham Post-Herald.

Pundits are trying to put a finger on why Americans are so angry these days. In most cases, it's not one thing but an accumulation of irritants.
Heidi Ramirez, who recently resigned from the state's School Reform Commission that oversees Philadelphia public schools, has been getting the heroine treatment for putting up a good fight.
The Book of Ecclesiastes says all is vanity and vexation under the sun. That's certainly the way a lot of us feel about the Philadelphia mayoral candidates. They're either vain or vexing. But they're also well qualified.
