The pace of life slows down appreciably in the summertime and so does the flow of new video games. Thankfully, a pair of college-football titles shipping later this month will stir up some excitement among fans of sports and music games. NCAA Football 2010 rushes into stores on Tuesday for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable, while Black College Football Xperience (BCFx): The Doug Williams Edition takes the field on the 360 on July 20.

Your love for video games is limitless, but can you manage to limit its expression to 140 characters or less? If so, you should join the thousands and thousands of gamers who share their passion for gaming on Twitter. If you already post on the free social-media site (that is, if you "Tweet"), then you understand the lively, fast-paced and, at times, surprisingly deep nature of the never-ending conversation taking place in the Twitterverse.
While fans of Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii will probably disagree, Sony and its PlayStation 3 made the biggest news among console systems at last week's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
Steven Spielberg is best known for directing Hollywood blockbusters like Schindler's List, The Color Purple, and the Indiana Jones film series. But in addition to his glittering cinematic career, Spielberg has had more than a passing flirtation with video
The Electronic Entertainment Expo, known as E3 in our gamer crowd, will take place in Los Angeles in a couple of weeks. The annual show is the video-game industry's big dance, although it has lost some of its luster - and a good chunk of its attendance - in recent years.
My last column discussed the brand-new DSi, the latest iteration of Nintendo's best-selling, camera-equipped portable gaming system. But as technically impressive as the DSi may be, the debut of the updated hardware wasn't the only newsmaker on the handheld video-game scene in recent weeks.
Although rival handheld game systems like Sony's PSP and Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch are mounting challenges, Nintendo continues to rule the portable video game space.
SANTA MONICA, Calif. - The video-game industry's big dance is a lot smaller. For the last decade, I've attended the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, as it is known. As the video-game industry grew, each show became more ear-splitting and more jam-packed than the one preceding, until last year 60,000 sweaty gaming types herded themselves into the Los Angeles Convention Center.
So you're packing the car for that long drive to the Poconos or Jersey Shore? Don't forget the games. Take it from the voice of experience - if you've got kids and a car ride, nothing cuts down on those annoying, plaintive whines of "Are we there yet?" quite like a good portable game system. There are a number of options available.
When one considers the Nintendo DS, light gaming fare such as Nintendogs, Mario Kart DS or Animal Crossing generally comes to mind. You probably wouldn't expect to encounter a gritty, film-noir adventure on this popular handheld. But that's exactly what players will find in Hotel Dusk Room 215. The new game is a hard-boiled detective story, the likes of which novelist Raymond Chandler could have been proud.
If you planned to go cold turkey with your World of Warcraft habit anytime soon, forget about it. In fact, prepare to become addicted all over again. On Tuesday, a long-awaited expansion, The Burning Crusade, will launch. WoW players are already frothing over this $39.99 release, which is the first official add-on to the immensely popular online role-playing game.
