Clearing the record

The Quick Chef New Jersey Festival of Ballooning will be July 24-26 in Readington, N.J. The dates were incorrect in Sunday's "10 for the Road" listing.

The obituary of radio personality Irv Homer, who died Wednesday, omitted his two sons from a previous marriage, Bruce and Jeffrey Pergament, as well as three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Bruce Pergament owns an auto dealership in Huntington, Pa. Jeffrey Pergament is a designer and artist who lives in Primos.

A story in Sunday's Inquirer on literacy of job applicants stated that a city investment of $12 million spent on work-specific intensive literacy courses would net more than $370 million in taxes and savings.

Actually, the city would need to invest $12 million a year for seven years, or $84 million, to reach that level of return in a seven-year period.

An item yesterday in the Heard in the Hall column incorrectly attributed remarks made on a Twitter account to Mayor Nutter.

The mayor does not have a public Twitter account, and the remarks in question were made by an impostor posing as Mayor Nutter online.

The Inquirer wants its news report to be fair and correct in every respect, and regrets when it is not. If you have a question or comment about news coverage, contact assistant managing editor David Sullivan (215-854-2357) at The Inquirer, Box 8263, Philadelphia 19101, or e-mail dsullivan@phillynews.com.
