He is founder and chief executive officer of the former Dixon-Shane Drug Co. and previous president of Robin Hood Ventures.

The Committee of Seventy, a nonpartisan organization advocating clean, effective government, fair elections, and a better-informed citizenry in Philadelphia and the region, has elected P. Edward Lovelidge chairman of the board. Lovelidge is managing partner of the Philadelphia Metro Market of PwC (formerly known as PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P.). He succeeds Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, president and CEO, Citizens Bank, PA/NJ/DE.

Three officers were reelected:

John E. McKeever, partner at DLA Piper, is vice chairman.

Dianne L. Semingson, president of DLS International, is secretary.

F. Mark Lastner, vice president and general auditor of Cigna Corp., is treasurer.

IGI Laboratories Inc., a Buena, N.J., maker of products for drug and cosmetics companies, has appointed Bhaskar Chaudhuri to its board. Chaudhuri was president of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International until Sept. 28. Before that, Chaudhuri was for seven years the president and CEO of Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences and a member of its board of directors until that unit was acquired by Valeant in December 2008.

Mayor Nutter was appointed to serve on the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Advisory Committee Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

Michael Araten was appointed to the board of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, a business-advocacy organization. He is president and CEO of K'Nex Brands and The Rodon Group. Before joining K'Nex and Rodon, he was chief litigation counsel to Toll Bros. Inc. and senior vice president for O'Neill Properties Group L.P.

Checkpoint Systems Inc., a Philadelphia and Thorofare maker of antitheft and inventory-tracking systems for retailers, has named Julie Spicer England to its board. England replaces Alan Hirsig, who recently retired. She retired from Texas Instruments Inc. in 2009 as vice president and general manager of radio-frequency identification.

Frances Gauthier has been elected to the council of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law for a four-year term. She was also appointed as the ABA Section of Business Law's Liaison to the ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession. Gauthier is of counsel in the Wilmington office of Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young L.L.P. and is chairwoman of the firm's diversity group. She is also co-chairwoman of its Spain and Latin America practice group.

Victor A. Fortkiewicz has been elected to the board of South Jersey Industries Inc., a Folsom, N.J., energy-services holding company, and to South Jersey Gas' board. Fortkiewicz most recently was executive director of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, from 2005 until his retirement this year. Additionally, the company said Walter M. Higgins 3d was elected lead independent director of SJI's board to fill the unexpired term of W. Cary Edwards.

The National Institute of Statistical Sciences, a nonprofit organization in Research Triangle Park, N.C., has elected Susan Ellenberg chairwoman of its board. She is a professor of biostatistics, Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, and associate dean for clinical research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

Citizens Financial Group Inc., Rhode Island, has elected Wendy A. Watson to its board and the boards of RBS Citizens N.A. and Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania. Watson is a former executive vice resident, global services at State Street Bank & Trust Co.

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, a nonprofit organization that provides classical-music training and orchestra-performance programs for gifted and talented students from the region, has appointed MaryTeresa Soltis secretary. She is a member in the General Litigation Department of Cozen O'Connor, Philadelphia.

Face to Face, a human-services organization in East Germantown, has appointed the following officers to its board:

Michael O'Toole, principal at Holy Ghost Preparatory High School, is chairman.

Michael Sacks, a lawyer at Hamburg & Golden P.C., is vice chairman.

James Domenick, president of Domenick & Associates, Philadelphia, will continue as treasurer.

Philadelphia Theatre Company, a regional theater company, has elected Lynda Barness, Frank Giordano, and Jordan Savitch to its board. Barness is president and owner of I DO Wedding Consulting. Giordano is president of Atlantic Trailer Leasing Corp. Savitch is senior vice president and general counsel of Penn National Gaming Inc.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Council, a nonprofit organization founded in 1827 that operates Philadelphia Green and the Philadelphia International Flower Show, has elected the following new members:

Roberta Dranoff is a docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Dranoff was chairwoman of the 2010 Flower Show Preview Party Committee, and she is a member of the Flower Show Executive Committee.

Margaret McCarvill is the global supply chain director for Dow Coating Materials.

Robin M. Porter is a lecturer and garden-design consultant who serves on the Haddonfield Shade Tree Commission and the board of the Haddonfield Civic Association. Porter is chairwoman of the PHS Plant Dividend Committee, serves as a Flower Show tour guide, and judges for the PHS City Gardens Contest and Community Greening Award.

Frank J. Soucek is director of business development for Delaware Valley Wholesale Florist Inc., Sewell.

The Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life, a Horsham nonprofit provider of services to seniors, has elected Michael B. Steinberg first vice chairman. He is vice president of The Montgomery Benefits Group in Jenkintown. The following trustees were elected to the board:
