Flyers winger Jody Shelley received another two-game suspension, general manager Paul Holmgren said Wednesday.

The NHL suspended Shelley for punching an unsuspecting Andrew Alberts in the face during Vancouver's 6-2 win Tuesday.

Shelley was also suspended for two games recently for an illegal hit in Boston.

Dan Carcillo will replace Shelley in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Shelley will forfeit nearly $27,000 in salary because of his suspension.

In another matter, defenseman Kimmo Timonen said it was 50-50 he would play Thursday in Los Angeles. Timonen, who wore a brace on his left ankle and sat out Wednesday's practice, was injured in Tuesday's 6-2 loss in Vancouver.

As a precaution, the Flyers recalled defenseman Erik Gustafsson from the AHL Phantoms. He leads the team with 26 points.
