Thur. Pa. football roundup: Judge handles Lincoln, 20-6
Joe McClausland threw for 180 yards, and Curtis Wortham added 142 yards on the ground as the Father Judge Crusaders beat Lincoln, 20-6, Thursday for their 20th straight game in the series.
The Crusaders lead the series, 31-3. The game's lone tie, 21-21, came in 1980. Lincoln's last win came in 1989.
The Crusaders finished the season 5-6, while the Railsplitters finished with a 7-5 mark.
Overbrook 32, West Philadelphia 12 - Kirk Wright scored on three touchdown runs to lead the Panthers to the win.
Wright scored on two 5-yard runs and added a 65-yard score. Teammate Keenan Clark scored on runs of 73 and 5 yards.
It was the sixth-straight win for the Panthers in the series, coming after four straight West Philadelphia wins.
The Speedboys still lead the series, 11-10.
Sun Valley 29, Chichester 12 - In a game between 0-11 teams, the host Vanguards got off to a big lead and held on to finish 1-11.
The Eagles, who finished 0-12, got a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to cut the halftime lead to 21-12.
Sun Valley led, 21-0, at the end of the first quarter.
It was the fourth-straight series win for Sun Valley, which leads the rivalry that started in 1961, 25-23.
Del-Val Charter 24, Bartram 22 - The visiting Warriors finished 8-3, thanks to Sean Williams' 37-yard pass to Jeremiah Mitchel in the fourth quarter.
Bartram quarterback Al Hajj-Shabazz broke his wrist at the start of the second half and missed the balance of the game.
Hajj-Shabazz was largely responsible for two early touchdowns for the Maroon Waves, scoring on a 2-yard run and throwing a 50-yard scoring strike to Muhammad Tukanana.
Williams finished with two touchdown passes for the Warriors, who avenged a 42-0 defeat in the series opener last season.
Neumann-Goretti 12, Southern 8 - Pat Balmores found the end zone on a 1-yard run with 49 seconds left and lifted the Saints (4-7) past the Rams (6-5) at 10th & Bigler.
Sean Allen gave Southern an 8-0 lead in the first quarter when he returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown and caught a two-point conversion pass from Shaquille Gaskins. But Anthony Mastrando cut the lead to 8-6 when he scored on a 5-yard bolt in the second quarter.
It was the fourth-straight victory for Neumann-Goretti. The Saints lead the series, 51-19-3.
Conwell-Egan 28, Harry S Truman 21 - The visiting Eagles (6-5) scored with five minutes left in the game to beat the Tigers (3-9) to take an 11-7-1 series lead.
Drew Peterson scored on runs of 5 and 2 yards to pace Truman. His second touchdown tied the game, 14-14, and Travis Thomas' 20-yard scoring run gave the Tigers a 21-14 lead in the third quarter. Conwell-Egan scored twice in the final quarter to take the win.
