Penns Lewko named Ivy League co-player of year
Jake Lewko, a standout senior linebacker at Penn, was named the Ivy League co-player of the year today. The 6-foot-1, 240-pounder shares the honor with Brown senior wideout and return specialist Buddy Farnham.
Lewko is the first Quaker to earn the award since quarterback Mike Mitchell won it in 2003. The Shawnee High product is the first Penn defender to win the award since linebacker Pat Goodwillie in 1994.
Lewko tallied 76 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick en route to leading Penn to the Ivy League title.
Offensive lineman Joseph D'Orazio, defensive lineman Joe Goniprow, kicker Andrew Samson and defensive backs Chris Wynn and Jonathan Moore joined Lewko as first-team all-Ivy League selections. As a result, Wynn became the first Quaker since wideout Miles Macik (1993-95) to earn first-team honors for three consecutive seasons.
