Its football playoff time!
Finally. It's football playoff time!
Postseason action in Southeastern Pennsylvania officially begins this weekend, with Public League playoffs in three classifications, including a pair of championship games, and the Catholic League Class AA semifinals.
Here's a look at all the playoff action:
Friday: Public League Class AAAA quarterfinals
Southern (4-3, 4-0) at George Washington (5-2, 3-1), 3 p,m. The Southern Rams will have their hands full trying to slow down Washington's 6-foot-3, 310-pound two-way lineman Sharrif Floyd.
Central (6-1, 3-1) at Bartram (6-2, 2-2), 3 p.m. Under first-year coach Rich Drayton, a former Central standout, the Lancers' only loss came against White Division champion Germantown.
Frankford (3-5, 2-2) at Germantown (5-2, 4-0), 6 p.m. The Frankford Pioneers have a losing record but are still favored to beat the Bears.
Martin Luther King (3-5, 3-1) at Northeast (4-3, 3-1), 6 p.m. Behind quarterback Malik Stokes and wideout Eric Brundidge, the Northeast Vikings have a solid aerial attack.
Friday: Catholic League Class AA semifinal
Cardinal Dougherty (4-4, 1-3) vs. West Catholic (6-2, 4-0), at Harry S Truman, 7 p.m. This one could get ugly. The West Catholic Burrs trounced the Cardinals, 57-19, on Oct. 16.
Saturday: Public League Class AA final
Imhotep Charter (5-1, 3-1) vs. Bok (8-0, 4-0), at Southern, 11 a.m. Sparked by running back Khalil Neal, the Bok Wildcats are averaging 37.1 points per game. Imhotep is looking to reverse a 30-0 loss to Tom DeFelice's squad.
Saturday: Public League Class A final
High School of the Future (5-3, 2-1) vs. Del-Val Charter (6-2, 3-0), at Simon Gratz, 3 p.m. Quarterback Sean Williams and tailback Markeese Walker lead the way for the high-scoring Del-Val Warriors. Like Imhotep, Future is facing an uphill climb. They lost to the Firebirds, 50-0, earlier this month.
Saturday: Catholic League Class AA semifinal
Archbishop Carroll (3-4, 2-2) vs. Bishop McDevitt (6-2, 3-1), at Plymouth Whitemarsh, noon. After a 6-0 start, the McDevit Lancers have lost two straight. Could that open the door for the Patriots to pull off the upset?
