Victims named in Phila. slaying, Delco car crash

Police have named two men who died yesterday - one by gunfire in Philadelphia, another in a Delaware County crash.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m., Constantine Pavlides, 62, of West Chester lost control of his 1991 Toyota Previa on Conchester Highway (Route 322) in Concord Township, according to state police.

After hitting a guardrail near Garnet Mine Road, the minivan overturned and struck a utility pole, police said.

Pavlides, who was alone in the minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved, but the accident closed Route 322 for more than two hours.

Witnesses are asked to call the Media barracks of the state police at 484-840-1000.

Last night, Jerome Salley, 18, of Southwest Philadelphia was found with a gunshot wound to the neck in a yard in the 2700 block of Daly Terrace in South Philadelphia, according to Philadelphia police.

Salley was shot nearby, at about 7:30 p.m., in the 2200 block of South 27 Street, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at 7:50 p.m.

Salley lived in the 2600 block of Holbrook Street.
