Deliberations to continue in Two-Face trial
A federal jury in Camden is scheduled to continue deliberations tomorrow in the trial of Juan "Two-Face" Rivera-Velez, who is accused of killing a rival drug dealer and attempting to kill a witness to cover up the slaying.
Today, in the second day of deliberations, the jurors asked to hear tape-recorded conversations from a wiretap that was part of the evidence presented during the six weeks of testimony.
Rivera-Velez, 35, is accused of working for drug lord Ray Morales, who ran a multi-million dollar cocaine ring from 1992 to 2004. Morales was arrested in 2003 picking up a large shipment of cocaine in Philadelphia. He later began cooperating with federal investigators to dismantle the organization and was a key witness against Rivera-Velez.
The jury asked U.S. District Judge Joseph E. Irenas to hear two wiretapped conversations Morales had with drug associates before his arrest.
