Fatality suspends Atlantic City rail line service

Service on New Jersey Transit's Atlantic City rail line has been suspended as authorities investigate the death of a trespasser who was struck by a train about 4:30 p.m. tonight just east of the Lindenwold station.

The line runs between 30th Street Station in Philadelphia and the Atlantic City rail station.

Joe Dee, a New Jersey Transit spokesman, strongly suggested that evening commuters find alternative transportation.

"Patco is cross-honoring and will take our customers with our tickets on their trains," Dee said.

Maybe if The State invested in South Jersey Regional Rail like they do in the North, crossings would be made safer, trespassing made harder, and accidents like this would be less-likely to happen...

Trains are pretty loud, and shake the ground pretty significantly. How does one get hit by a train?

i was on this train, and we were stuck on the train for 2 hours before a bus arrived. the tracks were fenced on both sides and the accident did not occur near a crossing. i believe that it was just some fool playing on the tracks.
