Delco DA investigating district judge
A Magisterial District Judge in Delaware County is the subject of a criminal investigation, the county district attorney's office said today.
Judge David J. Murphy is on paid administrative leave, according to his office. His district covers Aston Township, Chester Heights Borough, and parts of Upper Chichester Township.
"Our special investigations unit is conducting an investigation on Judge Murphy," said Erica Parham, spokeswoman for the District Attorney's office.
Parham would not confirm or deny that the investigation stems from concerns over signatures on election petitions. She said that the allegations were referred to her office late last week, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
Parham also declined to say whether any others are the subject of the investigation.
Murphy has been a Magisterial District Judge since 1991.
Senior Judge Kenneth Miller is filling in on the bench, according to Murphy's office.
