Fumo is engaged
Vincent Fumo is engaged.
The former state senator, scheduled to be sentenced next week for his corruption conviction, popped the question to his longtime significant other, Carolyn Zinni, over the holiday weekend - and she said yes.
A source familiar with the engagement said that Zinni has been wanting to get engaged as a sign of her commitment to Fumo, who is likely to receive a lengthy prison sentence.
"She loves this guy so much," said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
It was Fumo, the source said, who was a bit reluctant - only because he did not want to put her in the position of being alone and engaged while he is in prison. "He didn't want to tie her down," said the source.
Fumo consulted several people close to him and decided to go forward with the engagement - which took place on Friday.
No details yet about a ring or whether they will marry before the sentencing.
"She wanted to at least get engaged," said the source, who suggested that no nuptials are likely at the moment, and emphasized that Zinni would not share in any Fumo assets.
