Burlco man charged with two carjackings
A Willingboro man was arrested yesterday and charged with staging two carjackings in South Jersey within the last week, police said.
Anthony Lewis, 37, allegedly forced the first victim to withdrawal $50 from an ATM at gunpoint and then drive him to Camden on June 28. He had approached the victim in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Burlington Township, asking for help jump-starting his vehicle.
At around 5:45 p.m. on June 30, police say, Lewis made a second victim drive him around for approximately 14 hours after asking for a ride to Willingboro in the Aldi parking lot in Maple Shade. They stopped at four different banks throughout the night to withdraw money from the victim's account.
Lewis has been charged with kidnapping, robbery, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police believe there may be more victims who have not come forward and asked them to to call Det. Brandon Roberson with the Burlington Township Police at (609) 239-5863.
