The University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School of Medicine's New Bolton Center in Kennett Square has received a $1 million leadership gift, the university announced today.

The University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School of Medicine's New Bolton Center in Kennett Square has received a $1 million leadership gift, the university announced today.

The donation by Gail Riepe of Cockeysville, Md., will be applied to the $17 million needed to build a state-of-the-art equine surgical suite at the George D. Widener Hospital for Large Animals, Penn said.

Riepe (1968), her father, her husband and her son graduated from Penn, the university said. She also is on the veterinary school's board of overseers.

"Gail Riepe's love of animals and her particular passion for horses makes Penn's School of Veterinary Medicine the logical place for her to direct her energies," said Joan C. Hendricks, dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine.    - Inquirer Staff
