Turnaround quarter at Kulicke & Soffa
Business continued to rebound at electronic-equipment maker Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc. in the quarter ended Sept. 30.
The Fort Washington company said revenue in its fourth fiscal quarter more than doubled, to $110.53 million from $52.08 million in the June quarter. Sales were $61.23 in the year-ago quarter.
In the current quarter, Kulicke & Soffa expects sales of $115 million to $120 million.
For the first time in three quarters, the manufacturer of machines used to assemble semiconductor devices booked a profit. Net income in the quarter was $5.75 million, up from a loss of $4.61 million in later year's fourth quarter.
Company shares were down 34 cents (6.42 percent) to $4.96 in late-morning trading; the shares have traded for $1.11 to $6.68 in the last 52 weeks. - Harold Brubaker
