Pa. American Water gets rate increase
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission today granted a 6.6 percent rate increase to Pennsylvania American Water Co., increasing the monthly bill for a residential customer using 4,200 gallons per month by $3.16 to $46.14.
Regulators gave the utility a $30.75 million revenue boost, about half the amount requested. The utility, which has 650,000 customers, had sought a $58 million increase.
Pennsylvania American, a subsidiary of American Water Works Corp. of Voorhees, operates in 35 counties, including parts of Bucks, Chester and Montgomery Counties.
It can't file for a new rate increase before April 2011.
