Boeing, Ridley workers approve 5-year contract
Union workers at Boeing Co.'s Rotorcraft plant in Ridley Township have ratified a new five-year contract with the aircraft maker that will give them raises of 2 percent to 4 percent a year and a lump-sum payment of $3,500 in the first year, the company and the union said.
The 1,789 workers, represented by the United Aerospace Workers union, will receive a raise of 3 percent in the first year, 2 percent in the second year, 3 percent in years three and four, and 4 percent in the last year. They also will get lump-sum payments of $1,500 in year four and $2,000 in year five.
The company said the deal gives workers outstanding pay and benefits packages while keeping the plant competitive.
Workers voted 1,149-228 to approve the deal, which goes into effect immediately. Boeing and union leaders reached a tentative deal on Wednesday. The old contract expired Oct. 1. The contract terms and ratification vote results were announced yesterday.
The plant has more than 5,400 workers and serves as Boeing's Rotorcraft Systems division headquarters and the manufacturing center for the CH-47 Chinook tandem-rotor helicopter and the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft.
