Synfin Industries, a division of TSG Inc., will pay $432,701 in civil penalties for air quality violations at its facility in North Wales, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said.

The textile finishing company had been cited for violations annually since 2005. In 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency raised emission standards. After that, the company was cited for violations by both federal and state agencies.

Synfin applies coatings to a variety of textiles. The finishes can act as fire retardants or fabric stabilizers, making fabrics stiffer, or softer or more resistant to stains.

TSG's corporate headquarters are in North Wales.

Under terms of the agreement, the company will pay the penalty in monthly installments over a four-year period to the commonwealth's Clean Air Fund.
