Division 1 players
QDo you think Karon Burton would be a good Division 1 player? Also how about Rakeem Brookins of Roman? there are rumors going around that Texas is looking at him.
kjthekid, Philadelphia, PA 02/07/08
AYes, I do think Karon Burton will be a good Division I player if he gets the opportunity. Despite being just 5-foot-8, the Chester High senior point guard is the one of the state's most exciting players to watch. Roman Catholic's Rakeem Brookins is also a very good player. The 5-foot-10 guard has more upside on the next level, because he's still a sophomore. In addition to Texas, he is being tracked by Georgetown, Delaware, VCU, St. Joe's and Penn.

Don't Leave Him Out!
QI check this website everyday, and to my surprise i don't see too much on this 1 special person by the name of Nasir Robinson of Chester High..Every time I read about Chester, I hear Burton, of Jefferson, or Johnson. Is it because Robinson already has signed w/ a D1 school, or does nobody like this kid? PLEASE WRITE BACK ASAP KEITH!!!
#35fan, Chester, PA 02/06/08
A
I disagree. Nasir Robinson is almost always mentioned in the paper. He was even featured as one of Southeastern Pennsylvania's preseason top five players to watch. Karon Burton, Rahlir Jefferson and Russell Johnson were not. If you are referring to the last two games, yes Burton and Jefferson were the focal points of those articles. It didn't have anything to do with Robinson having already signed with Pitt. In regards to nobody liking the kid, that's not the case here.
Burton and Jefferson deserved to be mentioned in those article. Burton had a game-high 32 points, five assists and four steals en route to being named team MVP in Friday's Prime Time Shootout game against Jeannette. Jefferson finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots to garner team MVP honors in a Kobe Bryant Scholastic Play-by-Play Classic matchup against Roman Catholic the next night. They deserved to be written about.
Plus, we don't write stories based on if we like or dislike someone. A player's performance has a lot to do with getting in the newspaper.

What's Jeannette like?
QI heard that you left the Philly area at 3 a.m. to travel to Jeannette, Pa. to see what's going on in preparation of tomorrow's expected Terrelle Pryor signing. How long did it take you to get there? What's the town like? Is the town small or town?
Buckeyes fans, Columbus , OH 02/05/08
A
Yes, it is true that I left the Philadelphia area at 3 a .m. to head to Jeannette, a town located 25 miles east of
Pittsburgh. I arrived here at 8:30 a.m. Other than not getting any sleep last night, the trip wasn’t bad at all.
This appears to a nice place.Very small, but nice. The town is so small that I initially drove past the right turn into the city limits off of U.S. Route 30 in
Westmoreland
County. Then after making the turn, I drove right through the town without even realizing it. The city has a total area of just 2.4 square miles and has a population of 10,654 residences. There are a lot of hills in this blue collar town.

Is Pryor going to sign?
QIs Terrelle Pryor going to sign tomorrow or not? There has been some talk that he is thinking about delaying it to next week.
Pittisit, Philly, PA 02/05/08
A
The press conference is scheduled for noon tomorrow in
Jeannette
High School’s gym. I would be surprised if he didn’t sign.
Pryor was unavailable for comment during today's visit to
Jeannette
High School. I did, however, speak to Jeannette athletic director Bob Murphy, Jeannette principal Stu Albaugh, Pryor’s guidance counselor Rick Klimchock and Pryor’s best friend Jason Marquis. They believe he will announce his college decision tomorrow. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette and The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review both reported today that Pryor is “80 to 90 percent sure” that he’ll announce his decision tomorrow. And school officials made arrangements today for the noon news conference.
A portable stage and 50 chairs were placed in the gym for media members and invited guests. Fifty more chairs will be available if needed.
Pryor visited the gym this morning. According to Albaugh, he was excited about the set up.

Is there anything to do in Jeannette?
QYou said Jeannette's only 2.4 square miles. Is there anything to do for entertainment? Does the town even have a hotel for out-of-town visitors?
CMartin, Philly, PA 02/05/08
A
There are a few restaurants. But the town does not have a hotel or a movie theater.
But that’s not a big deal, considering a Courtyard Marriott is located several miles up the road in
Greensburg. There's a mall, a movie theater and more restaurants within walking distance of the Marriott.
