QWill Inter-Ac ever join PIAA??? Wouldn't it be nice to see the Lady Patriots add the title of State Champions to their list of accomplishments
Anonymous, Fort Washington, PA  12/02/08
A

I don't know if the Inter-Ac will ever join the PIAA.

Not wanting to part from their traditions may deter the Inter-Ac teams from joining. Some of those schools have a tradition of making incoming freshmen repeat the ninth grade.

Under current PIAA bylaws, that player would become ineligible to play as a senior.

"I think the fifth-year thing is something the schools could deal with," said Jim Fenerty, the athletic director at Germantown Academy. "In reality, most of our schools do not have fifth-year seniors."

Fenerty said that scheduling and keeping rivalries intact are concerns. But he's keeping an open mind.

Like you, I would like the see the Patriots have the opportunity to compete for a state championship.

QKeith,
Your ranking of high school sports teams was enlightening, but what about field hockey? Methacton High School is having an awesome year. They are ranked 4th in the Inquirer. Should be given some consideration, I think.
Rich, Collegeville, PA  10/15/08
AI'll take a good look at field hockey. There may be some surprises this week.

JUDGE vs NORTH SOCCER

QWere you actually at the soccer game on Tues. Nite? North Catholic seemed to be on a power play most of the game! Also,if you were really at the game and saw what most of us saw. Then how can you go public and say that North is not as good as Judge? Is Judge for real or are they overrated players with a great coach? Please respond!
Falcon Fan, PHILADELPHIA, PA  10/11/08
A

I'm not going to get into a debate with you over this. Both teams are very good. They played twice this season. The first game ended with a tie. Judge took a 2-1 victory in the rematch. With that said, the Crusaders are 1-0-1 against the Falcons. Perhaps, you feel that North Catholic is better than Father Judge. You have a right to feel that way.

But the fact is Father Judge defeated North, 2-1, last week. That's a fact. That's also why I have Judge ranked fourth in Southeastern Pennsylvania. North is close behind at No. 5.

archbishop wood soccer

QHey Keith. What is your opinion of woods soccer team? They are undefeated and have a phenomenal sophomore forward (tommy baker)was has scored 26 goals already this year. What is the catholic league record for goals in a season?
Joe Larwa, Philadelphia, PA  10/04/08
A

Archbishop Wood has a good team. You are right about Tommy Baker. He is having a great season.  I have to check to see what the Catholic League single-season soccer record is. However, I do know that La Salle's Colin Baker scored 36 goals as a senior in 2006.

Baker wrapped up his career with a school-record 86 goals. He had 36 goals that season, 30 as a junior, 18 as a sophomore and two as a freshman.

PUBLIC LEAGUE FOOTBALL

QHOW DO YOU THINK SAMUEL FELS HIGH SCHOOL WILL DO THIS YEAR ?
WILL THEY MAKE THE PLAYOFFS ?
Anonymous, PHILADELPHIA, PA  09/19/08
A

I think Fels will do well against Blue Division opponents. However, I don't expect the Panthers to go far in the Public League Class AAAA playoffs. Frankford, George Washington and Northeast are the three best teams in that classification.
