Keith Pompey has been an Inquirer reporter since September 2004, focusing on high school sports. He was named the 2007 Media Person of the Year by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association. Keith is also the Pennsylvania representative on the McDonald's All-American High School boys' basketball contact committee.

GA girls soccer
I don't know if the Inter-Ac will ever join the PIAA.
Not wanting to part from their traditions may deter the Inter-Ac teams from joining. Some of those schools have a tradition of making incoming freshmen repeat the ninth grade.
Under current PIAA bylaws, that player would become ineligible to play as a senior.
"I think the fifth-year thing is something the schools could deal with," said Jim Fenerty, the athletic director at Germantown Academy. "In reality, most of our schools do not have fifth-year seniors."
Fenerty said that scheduling and keeping rivalries intact are concerns. But he's keeping an open mind.
Like you, I would like the see the Patriots have the opportunity to compete for a state championship.

high school teams
Your ranking of high school sports teams was enlightening, but what about field hockey? Methacton High School is having an awesome year. They are ranked 4th in the Inquirer. Should be given some consideration, I think.
JUDGE vs NORTH SOCCER
I'm not going to get into a debate with you over this. Both teams are very good. They played twice this season. The first game ended with a tie. Judge took a 2-1 victory in the rematch. With that said, the Crusaders are 1-0-1 against the Falcons. Perhaps, you feel that North Catholic is better than Father Judge. You have a right to feel that way.
But the fact is Father Judge defeated North, 2-1, last week. That's a fact. That's also why I have Judge ranked fourth in Southeastern Pennsylvania. North is close behind at No. 5.
archbishop wood soccer
Archbishop Wood has a good team. You are right about Tommy Baker. He is having a great season. I have to check to see what the Catholic League single-season soccer record is. However, I do know that La Salle's Colin Baker scored 36 goals as a senior in 2006.
Baker wrapped up his career with a school-record 86 goals. He had 36 goals that season, 30 as a junior, 18 as a sophomore and two as a freshman.

PUBLIC LEAGUE FOOTBALL
WILL THEY MAKE THE PLAYOFFS ?
I think Fels will do well against Blue Division opponents. However, I don't expect the Panthers to go far in the Public League Class AAAA playoffs. Frankford, George Washington and Northeast are the three best teams in that classification.
