107,5

QI know that this may be a little out of your area, but 107.5 out of Boytertown switched formats yesterday from rock to christian. Any word why?
matt, PA  04/01/09
A

Nassau Broadcasting had what's known as a limited marketing agreement with WDAC Radio Co. to operate "Frank" at 107.5. When the LMA expired -- and I'm not sure if Nassau chose not to continue (perhaps it couldn't put together the financing to buy it) -- WDAC regained control of the station.

Bobby Flay

QMichael,
I know Bobby Flay has opened up some Burger restaurants in New York and North New Jersey. Do you know if there are any plans for one in our area?
Chris, Pottstown, PA  03/19/09
A

Not that I have heard, since a rumored plan for a Penn campus location fell through.

Money Money

QOk....so remember when Q brought in Ryan Seacrest and just cut back its talents hours (before LP left.) How did that, in turn, end up saving clear channel money? Were the DJ's not considered full-time since they were only on air for 3 hrs?
Anonymous, PA  03/19/09
A

Clear Channel is counting on additional national-ad revenue that Seacrest's show would bring. (For that matter, that's why the station let Booker go.) And with Lisa Paige gone, it now saves a salary.

Gary Papa

QI understand if Gary Papa does not want to talk about his condition. But he has a lot of people who care about him. Why would Channel 6 not allow him to do so. What if he wanted to?
Phil A., plymouth meeting, PA  03/16/09
A

I hear that he doesn't want to talk about it in that way.

Don Polec

QOk...so Don Polec is leaving April 1. Do you think this is just an April Fool's joke he is planning and that he is not really leaving?
Anonymous, PA  03/15/09
A

No joke. He's leaving.

Gary Papa

QHey Michael,

Any update on how Gary Papa is doing?
Jim, Reading, PA  03/10/09
A

He seems to be getting better. He was on the dinner-hour newscasts Tuesday.

Diego

QNow that Joey B is back with Chio how do you think this will affect Diego?
Anonymous, Trenton, NJ  03/04/09
A

How will it affect Diego? Perhaps he'll have another reason to listen to Wired. As I've written before, Diego is a sidekick/character, not a producer. The Chio show needed a producer after Justice was fired.

Michael Klein

philly afternoon-evening sports talk show

QWhich show has the higher listenership Eskin or Misanelli
edju, phila, PA  02/28/09
A

Eskin has more listeners. In January's ratings, Missanelli's share of the audience came close to Eskin's among their target demo of men 25 to 54 -- the closest it's ever been. Eskin had a 4.6 while Missanelli had a 4.3. (The year before, WPEN pulled a 0.8 in that 3-to-7 p.m. block. Missanelli has become WPEN's only real bright spot, ratings-wise.) Still, Eskin's cumulative audience in January was 50 percent higher than Missanelli's. The theory is that Missanelli's audience stays with him during a show, while Eskin's listeners either don't listen as long or bounce around the dial.

John Ogden

QWhat's the deal with John Ogden no longer doing traffic on Ch10?
Josh, Villas, NJ  02/27/09
A

The deal was sealed about three months ago. I understand he's working in Washington, D.C., but not in TV.

Fox 29 Sports

QIs Hugh Douglass an official member of their sports team?
Shellsy, Philly, PA  02/26/09
A

He's a freelancer.
