610 WIP
Glen is on vacation. Back next week.
John Anderson
How come John Anderson has been put on the back burner of Good Day Philadelphia while Mike Jerrick is getting another push? For a while, it seemed like the Fox execs were smitten over John
Jerrick was under contract to Fox, and after the national show fizzled it wanted to find him a home. Philly is a great fit, as he did well here last time out. Fox perceives Jerrick to be more of an entertainer than the low-key Anderson. Although the station won't say it, I suspect that Anderson will get a bigger role in Fox29 sports, which right now seems to be an afterthought.
6abc weekdayers working weekends
No surprise. TV stations' ranks are so depleted lately, especially for summer vacations, and they need to staff their various newscasts.
19th Street Famous 4th St. Deli
younger demographic
June's Arbitron ratings for the age 12-24 age group shows Wired 96.5 at No. 1 (as it has been for some time), followed by WRFF (104.5), Q102, B101, The Beat 100.3, Power 99 and WMMR (93.3).
Movie in Center City?
That's the "untitled James L. Brooks" comedy starring Jack Nicholson, Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson that I have written about in just about every INQlings column for the last three weeks! See back issues at http://go.philly.com/michaelklein.
It'll be here (but not in the same building) till October.
New 6abc Reporter
Why no word on new 6abc reporter Katherine Scott?
Because I seldom write about new TV reporters, only anchors.
But since so few are being hired nowadays, why not: The Kremlin (aka Channel 6) released the skimpiest of bios, which describes her as a veteran of News 12 The Bronx and Brooklyn, a New Jersey native, and 2003 Harvard grad with a B.A. in anthropology. She was the captain of the varsity field hockey team. "While not at work, Katherine enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends, going for runs, and reading," it concludes.
Here's her wedding announcement from the New York Times last summer, and here's a quiz he co-authored on "Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head." (No fair peeking at the answers.)
Ed Benkin
Both are CBS stations, so I'd image it was fill-in. Awhile back, management toyed with having WIP people do the weekend sports updates on 1060 but that plan died.
What happened to Lori Delgado
Whatever happened to Lori Delgado? I know she quit NBC10 as the whole Vince DeMentri drama was unfolding. DeMentri is now somewhere in RI, but where did Lori go. I tried to google her and couldn't find anything.
As far as I know, she is living in NY but is not working in TV.
1210 AM Sinatra Sundays
Yes, Sid Mark's "Sunday With Sinatra" show (and his Friday night "Friday With Frank" show) is a tradition in town. I don't have accurate ratings breakdowns for either show (my data cover the entire Monday-Friday week, and on Sundays, his show's times do not neatly fit the time periods for which I have info). But the bottom line with a specialty show is not ratings; it's revenue and to a degree, image. Sid's shows seem to be generating enough revenue, and they're a selling point for the station.
