Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy are bringing a new holiday attraction to Christmas Village this year: a 27-foot-tall, walk-through present decorated with 100,000 red and white LED lights and a 4-foot-long bow.
Designed by Philadelphia-based agency FK Productions, “The Present” will be displayed at the center of the German-style Christmas market. “The Present” is free and open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting on Tuesday, Nov. 27 through Christmas Eve. Christmas Village officially opens on Thursday, Nov. 22 (that’s Thanksgiving) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and then from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Mayor Kenney will light the present on Monday, Nov. 26, during the opening ceremony of Christmas Village at 4:30 p.m.
Besides being a place where you can snap cool Instagram photos, visitors can also donate to causes inside. You can text PARKS to 501501 to donate to the Fairmount Park Conservancy, BOOK to 20222 to donate to Welcome America’s book campaign for Philadelphia Parks and Recreation’s youth programs, or HOME to 80100 to donate to Project HOME. Bank of America will also match individual contributions up to $5,000 per organization.
