Union hosts Chivas de Guadalajara in friendly finale

Less nostalgia, more deja vu.

This is what Michael Orozco Fiscal hopes for when it comes to the Union and their final friendly match of the season tonight against Mexican power Chivas de Guadalajara.

"The last time I played against them I scored," recalled Orozco Fiscal, on loan to the Union from Mexican First Division side San Luis FC. "It was off a corner and they went to clear it. We won the ball back and a cross came in from the right side. I split two defenders and headed it in."

That was during his stint with San Luis last season, but Chivas is now much different. Six games into its regular season, Chivas has brought a strong squad, including 11 players from the team that made it to the 2010 Copa Libertadores final, the most decorated club event in South America.

Think UEFA Champions League, but with a much vibrant - and potentially violent - fan base.

Tonight should be a good test for the Union, coming off a 2-1 win at MLS Eastern Conference foe New England on Saturday. It's a win, Orozco said that serves as motivation.

"Chivas is going to come out here and play lights out, they are going to go hard for 90 minutes with a really talented bunch of players," said Orozco Fiscal. "But getting that win [against New England] has helped us a lot mentally. We are trying to show the fans that we are a good team and that we can play against any team. We are a team that's going to be fighting and that's what they'll see."

What fans may not see are forwards Alejandro Moreno (hamstring strain) and Sebastien Le Toux (knee contusion), both listed as questionable. Eduardo Coudet who suffered a foot contusion against the Revolution, could return.

Chivas could send forwards Alberto Medina, Omar Arellano and Omar Bravo out. Bravo, formerly with Deportivo La Coruna of Spain's La Liga, recently signed a designated player contract with MLS' Kansas City Wizards.

"I am excited to get a chance to see how he plays," said Orozco Fiscal. "He works hard every minute, and he is proven on the national team level and over in Spain. It'll be good for Kansas City and for MLS to have another quality player like that."

Nine MLS games remain in the regular season for the Union, six of which are at PPL Park. The goal now is to prove that despite the standings, it is a force to be reckoned with.

"I think the standings show we didn't have a good start to the season, but we are taking it step-by-step," said Orozco Fiscal. "We aren't going to sit here and complain. The goal now is to clean things up and try to do best we can. Everytime we've dont that we've been dangerous."

The Union signed midfielder/defender Sheanon Williams yesterday from USL-2 partner Harrisburg City. The Union now have reached the alloted 24-man MLS roster limit. Williams, 20, a Boston native, played under Union assistant coach John Hackworth at the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
