Phillies-Yankees: Game 5 talking points
* Back on Amtrak: If nothing else, the Phillies kept their hopes of a repeat alive for another 48 hours and kept the Yankees from celebrating their 27th world championship at Citizens Bank Park. And after a day off, they'll try to even the series tomorrow night at Yankee Stadium and force a decisive Game 7 on Thursday.
* The closer: It was supposed to be Brad Lidge, right? Then he came into a tie game Sunday night and was lit up. So when a save situation presented itself last night, Ryan Madson came out of the bullpen. The Phillies won, but Madson gave up a double, a pair of singles and a run. Yikes.
* Chase Utley: He doesn't have a single yet in the World Series. Of course, he has five home runs and a double, is batting .333, has scored six runs and has eight RBI.
* Phillies offense: Missing in action during three straight losses to the Yankees, batting just .220 as a team and averaging just four runs per game at the start of play last night, the lineup hung an eight-spot on the board. They'll probably have to stay hot if they want to have a chance to win two more and defend their title.
* Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Burnett: Yankees starter A.J. Burnett held the Phillies to one run in seven innings in Game 2. Last night, the Phillies scored three runs just three batters into the game and knocked him out before he could retire a batter in the third. Gee, maybe pitching him with just 3 days' rest wasn't such a good idea after all.
