Phillies-Yankees: Game 5 big play X-ray

The play: Before Yankees starter A.J. Burnett had recorded an out, Chase Utley let the Yankees know that the defending champions would not go down easily, drilling a home run into rightfield.

The setup: After the Yankees got to Cliff Lee for a first-inning run, the Phillies needed to answer and quickly. Jimmy Rollins singled and Shane Victorino was hit by a pitch.

The at-bat: Utley, who had only two first-pitch home runs during the regular season, turned on Burnett's 94-mph fastball ... and the hyperbolic arc lifted the spirits of the entire city as it settled into the rightfield seats.

The stats: It was Utley's seventh career World Series home run, extending the Phillies' record he had set the previous evening. He has five homers this series, tying Cheltenham High's Reggie Jackson (1977) for most in one World Series ... Utley does not have a single in this World Series (6-for-18). He has a double and five homers ... This is the eighth time the Yankees have faced the defending champions in a World Series. They are 5-2, so far.

The quote: Utley, on Fox, about tying Reggie Jackson's record: "It's pretty cool. It's pretty surreal."
