Tiger doesn't see humor in Golf Digest parody
Tiger Woods writes article criticizing satirical piece by writer Dan Jenkins.
TIGER WOODS teed off on Dan Jenkins yesterday, criticizing a parody he wrote for Golf Digest titled "My (Fake) Interview with Tiger."
Woods responded by writing an article of his own for theplayerstribune.com, a website owned by retired baseball star Derek Jeter.
The headline of Woods' column was "Not true, Not Funny."
Jenkins' story was done in Q&A fashion.
One "question" referred to the time Woods' then-wife Elin Nordegren smashed his SUV with a golf club after learning he was unfaithful.
Wrote Jenkins:
Q: You named your yacht Privacy. Because you're a worldwide celebrity, do you really expect and demand privacy?
A: I thought about renaming it Serenity, but that pretty much went out the door when the 9-iron hit the window of the Escalade.
Tiger wrote that he was shocked by "the sheer nastiness of [Jenkins'] attack."
Jenkins responded via Twitter:
"My next column for Tiger: defining parody and satire. I thought I let him off easy."
Wilt stamp luncheon
Wilt Chamberlain fans can preorder the limited edition Forever stamps bearing his likeness - as a Warrior and as a Laker - at USPS.com.
The stamps will be issued on Dec. 5, which is also the date of a luncheon to recognize the committee that worked so hard on getting approval for the stamp.
According to Donald Hunt, a sports writer for the Philadelphia Tribune who worked tirelessly on the 6-year project, scheduled speakers include former NBA players Mike Bantom, Ollie Johnson and Wali Jones; Monte Johnson, a college teammate of Chamberlain's at Kansas, and Harvey Pollack, longtime super-statman for the Sixers.
The luncheon, which will be held at First District Plaza, 3801 Market Street from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is open to the public. For tickets or information, call 215-843-2027 or email bdcwrites@gmail.com.
