Brodeur becomes 60,280-minute man

Besides winning more games than any goalie in NHL history, Matrtin Brodeur has now spent more time in front of a net as well.

Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise scored shootout goals to make Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils 2-1 winners at Boston, as Brodeur surpassed Patrick Roy for the most minutes played when the puck was dropped to open the third period. The 37-year-old Brodeur has played 60,280 minutes; Roy played 60,235.

After sending the game to overtime with a stop on the Bruins' Marc Savard's wrister from the slot in the closing seconds of regulation, Brodeur made pad saves on Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci in the shootout.

"I totally forgot about it until they put it on the scoreboard. I knew it coming into the game, a lot of people brought it to my attention," Brodeur said.

In other games:

* At Uniondale, N.Y., John Tavares scored on a rebound with 6:12 left in the third period to lift the New York Islanders to a rare, come-from-behind win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2. New York entered the game 0-7-3 when trailing after two periods.

* At Detroit, Miika Kiprusoff made 40 saves for his 32nd career shutout to lift the Calgary Flames to a 3-0 victory over the slumping Red Wings, who haven't scored in 153 minutes, 22 seconds. The Red Wings have been shut out in consecutive games for the first time since December 2001, and the first time at home since 1977.

* At Anaheim, Teemu Selanne scored twice on the power play and Jean-Sebastien Giguere posted his first shutout of the season, leading the Ducks to a 3-0 win that snapped the Chicago Blackhawks' eight-game winning streak.

* At Tampa, Kurtis Foster had two goals, Steven Stamkos added his team-high 16th goal and the Tampa Bay Lightning routed the New York Rangers, 5-1.

* At Raleigh, N.C., Rich Peverly scored the fourth of Atlanta's five third-period goals with 6:03 remaining in the third period to help the Thrashers rally for a 6-4 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Thrashers, 6-1-3 in their last 10 games, host the Flyers tonight.

* At Sunrise, Fla., Niklas Hagman and Phil Kessel each scored two goals in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 6-4 triumph over the Florida Panthers.

* At Nashville, Chris Mason made 37 saves, and Brad Boyes, David Backes and Paul Kariya scored in the St. Louis Blues' 3-1 victory over the Predators.

* At Phoenix, two goals by Lauri Korpikoski and three assists each from Scottie Upshall and Matthew Lombardi led the Coyotes to a 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars.

* At Edmonton, Patrick Marleau had three goals and Joe Pavelski scored in the shootout to lift the San Jose Sharks over the Oilers, 5-4.

* At St. Paul, Minn., Chuck Kobasew had a hat trick to lead the Minnesota Wild past the Colorado Avalanche, 5-3.
