Police make another arrest in fatal stabbing of UConn player

A Hartford, Conn., man was charged with lying to police investigating the Oct. 18 stabbing death of UConn football player Jasper Howard.

UConn Police Lt. Andrew Fournier said 18-year-old De'Quan Muhammad was arrested on Monday and charged with making a false statement, hindering prosecution and interfering with an officer.

He was being held yesterday on $200,000 bond and is scheduled to return to Rockville Superior Court tomorrow, according to court records. He has not yet entered a plea.

Six people face charges in the case.

Noteworthy

* Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes had his suspension for apparently trying to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey increased from half of Saturday's game against Vanderbilt to a full game.

Meanwhile, junior defensive tackle Brandon Antwine, who reinjured his shoulder against Mississippi State last month, might need season-ending surgery.

Also, coach Urban Meyer said Southeastern Conference officials missed a late hit on Tim Tebow in Saturday's game against Georgia. He said the crew calling the game should have flagged Bulldogs linebacker Nick Williams for knocking his quarterback to the ground well after he had gotten rid of the football.

* The replacement for the Cotton Bowl game has been lined up. Dallas city leaders said the Dallas Football Classic is planned for New Year's Day 2011 in the Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington, Texas. Big Ten teams will play teams from Conference USA and the Big 12 on a rotating basis. *
