Season: Park signed with the Phillies hoping to fill out their five-man rotation. That didn't work out as expected, but Park became a key component of the bullpen and the Phillies' return to the playoffs. Park appeared in 45 games this year, 38 as a reliever, and compiled a 4.43 ERA. He allowed 84 hits over 83 1/3 innings of work.

Career: Park, who began his career as a reliever with the Los Angeles Dodgers, was primarily a starter from 1997 through '07 for Los Angeles, Texas, San Diego and the New York Mets. In 2008, the Dodgers moved him back to the bullpen, where he appeared in 54 games - five as a starter - and compiled a 3.40 ERA.

The Pen: Park remained a mystery to much of the Phillies' 25-man roster until he joined several members on a night out for the MLB Network series "The Pen." Despite some struggles with the language, Park endeared himself to fellow relievers such as Chad Durbin and Brad Lidge as he showed a sense of humor and opened up over the course of the night.

The fight: Before his success this season, some Phillies fans might have only known of Park due to an on-field incident in which he drop-kicked Angels pitcher Tim Belcher on June 5, 1999, when Park took exception to what he felt was a hard tag by Belcher. The incident has been played over and over on YouTube.
