Reinprecht's a natural in Panthers victory
Florida's Steve Reinprecht scored a natural hat trick, getting three goals in succession within 5 minutes, 11 seconds of the first period, and the visiting Panthers eventually topped the Dallas Stars, 6-5, in a shootout last night.
Rostislav Olesz scored the only goal in the shootout, and Florida goalie Scott Clemmensen stopped Dallas' Brad Richards on the the game's final attempt.
Reinprecht's three goals give him eight on the young season. All three were scored with the teams at even strength. Nathan Horton assisted on all three, and former Flyer Dennis Seidenberg assisted on Reinprecht's second and third goals.
In other games:
* At Columbus, Pittsburgh scored twice in the final 3 minutes of regulation to tie the game and Sidney Crosby had the only goal in a shootout to lead the Penguins to a 4-3 victory over the Blue Jackets. Ruslan Fedotenko and Alex Goligoski scored the late goals in a 39-second span to tie the game. Rick Nash had two goals Columbus.
* At Buffalo, Tim Connolly scored his second goal of the game on a power play 1:04 into overtime to give the Sabres a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, who fell to 1-7-3. Toronto tied the score with 38 seconds to play in the third period on a shorthanded goal by Mikhail Grabovsky.
* At St. Paul, Minn., Petr Sykora had a goal and an assist, and Eric Belanger and Antti Miettinen also scored to help the Minnesota Wild win for the first time in regulation this season, 3-2, over the New York Rangers.
* At Anaheim, Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan scored two goals apiece as the Ducks thumped Vancouver, 6-2. Ex-Flyer Joffrey Lupul also scored for the Ducks.
* At Washington, Mark Streit scored 53 seconds into overtime to give the New York Islanders a 4-3 victory over the Capitals.
* At Chicago, Patrick Sharp scored with 4:10 left in regulation to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.
Noteworthy
* Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula will be out indefinitely after breaking his right wrist during Thursday night's shootout loss in Edmonton.
* Interim executive director Ian Penny and the NHL Players' Association have parted ways. The NHLPA said in a statement yesterday that Penny told the union that he has been "constructively dismissed" and could no longer work in the current environment.
