
Drexel women lead CAA basketball preseason poll
The women's team was picked to finish first, and 2009 CAA player of the year Gabriela Marginean was picked as preseason player of the year.
The Drexel men's team was picked to finish seventh.
Voting was done by coaches, sports information directors and media.
Old Dominion is the pick to win the men's title. ODU was 25-10 last year and returns all five starters. Northeastern was picked second, defending champion Virginia Commonwealth third, then George Mason, James Madison, Hofstra, Drexel, Georgia State, Towson, William & Mary, Delaware and UNC Wilmington.
ODU center Gerald Lee and Hofstra guard Charles Jenkins were voted preseason co-players of the year.
The Drexel women won the CAA title last year and return eight players from a 24-9 team. Marginean averaged 23.3 points and 7.4 rebounds last season.
James Madison was picked to finish second, followed by Old Dominion, Delaware, VCU, Towson, Hofstra, UNC Wilmington, William & Mary, Northeastern, Georgia State and George Mason.
Delaware will have available former Connecticut recruit Elena Delle Donne, from Ursuline Academy in Wilmington. *
