Temple to honor Daily News' Jasner

Daily News sports writer Phil Jasner has been selected to the Temple School of Communications and Theater's Hall of Fame. He will be inducted at the Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Awards on Oct. 20.

Jasner, class of 1964, has covered the Sixers and the NBA for the Daily News on a full-time basis since 1981 and has been a member of the sports staff since 1972.

He won the 2004 Curt Gowdy Media Award, presented by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to the sport during his career. He was inducted into the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame earlier this year and also is a member of the Overbrook High School Hall of Fame.

The other members of the class are Addie Collins-Zinone, a senior communications specialist for the USO and founder of Pro vs. GI Joe Inc.; Bernie Prazenica, the president and general manager of WPVI; Irv Randolph, the managing editor of the Philadelphia Tribune; and Steve Sansweet, the director of content management and head of fan relations for Lucasfilm.

"Today" co-anchor Matt Lauer will be awarded the group's highest honor, the Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award.
