Savery notches 10th win for Reading Phils
Lefthander Joe Savery is putting together quite a season for the Phillies' Double A affiliate in Reading.
The Phils' first-round pick from 2007 earned his Eastern League-leading 10th win yesterday as Reading routed host Trenton, 12-2.
Savery (10-1) threw six shutout innings, allowed only two hits and lowered his ERA to 3.08. He struck out two and walked four. Savery has allowed only one run his last 21 innings.
The Rice University product was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week last week. The 6-3, 215-pounder went 2-0 in his two starts and did not allow a run in 11 innings. He also struck out nine. *
