Top NBA prospect Tyreke Evans signs with agent Arn Tellem

Tyreke Evans ended weeks of speculation by signing with uber-agent Arn Tellem this weekend in Los Angeles. Tellem, who represents Phillies second baseman Chase Utley and is originally from Lower Merion, has also corralled Episcopal Academy's Gerald Henderson and Wayne Ellington.

Evans, the 6-5 Memphis shooting guard from American Christian, is projected to be a lottery pick, possibly among the top five selected in the NBA draft, which is set for Thursday, June 25.

"We're very happy with every decision that we've made, and we've made it with Tyreke's best interest," said Julius "Doc" Evans, one of Tyreke's older brothers. "We went through a process, interviewing with six of the top agents in the country, and what we liked about Arn was the guy who had the biggest and best deals in the NBA."

Tellem represents Derrick Rose and Tracy McGrady, and at one time represented Kobe Bryant.

Tyreke has a workout scheduled today with the Sacramento Kings, who have the fourth overall pick, and on Thursday with the Washington Wizards, who have the No. 5 pick.

Evans is expecting to be home in Chester the week of June 15. He took a plane yesterday from Los Angeles to Sacramento for the Kings' workout.

"We're hearing Tyreke can go as high as two and low as nine to Toronto, but all the feedback we're getting is that Tyreke will be a lottery pick," Doc said. "But mostly we're hearing he won't fall below Sacramento or Washington." *
