Agent: Eagles to sign ex-Raider Clemons
"We'll get it done," Henderson predicted, as Clemons embarked on his first free-agent visit. "He can get to the quarterback, coming off the edge, which is what they said they want from him."
Clemons (6-3, 240) spent two seasons as a sub with the Redskins and was out of football in 2006 before managing to tie for the Raiders' team lead in sacks last season, with ex-Eagle Derrick Burgess. His brother, Nic Clemons, is a Broncos defensive tackle.
Henderson said Clemons, 26, has "a great attitude, a great love for the game, great respect for the game."
Presumably, the Birds would pair Clemons with Juqua Thomas at right defensive end, although defensive coordinator Jim Johnson has spoken about using more 3-4 this season, which could make Clemons a pass-rushing linebacker again.
There was no confirmation of other free-agent activity by the Eagles, although a source close to wideout Javon Walker has said he expected the Birds to be interested if Walker were released by Denver, something that happened yesterday. Walker is coming off two knee injuries but is said to be healthy now. He has trained in the offseason with Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who is represented by the same agent group as Walker.

The Vikings signed fullback Thomas Tapeh, whom the Eagles didn't try to bring back . . . According a couple of published reports, the Raiders have signed Giants safety Gibril Wilson, whom previous reports had connected to the Eagles . . . Wideout Bernard Berrian is said to be seeking about $8 million a year in free agency. If that's true, he might be on the market a while. *
