D'Ambra passes 1,000-point mark in Kixx win
Don D'Ambra became the 15th player in Major Indoor Soccer League history to score 1,000 points and the Kixx held on for a 15-13 win over Detroit Saturday at the Wachovia Spectrum.
D'Ambra scored four goals for the second time this season. On his fourth, D'Ambra surpassed the 1,000-point mark in his 14-year career.
The Kixx fought off a late comeback by the MISL's best road team to move into sole possession of sixth place. The top six teams in the nine-team league make the playoffs. Tony Donatelli had a goal and four assists for the Kixx, hooking up with D'Ambra three times.
Phantoms
The line of Frederik Cabana, Darroll Powe and Triston Grant combined for five points, leading the Phantoms to a 5-1 win over host Binghamton in an American Hockey League game Saturday night.
A dozen Phantoms contributed at least one point to the win. Scott Munroe earned the win in net with 33 saves. Powe, Cabana, Pete Zingoni, Kyle Greentree and Denis Tolpeko scored the Phantoms' goals. Shawn Weller got the lone Binghamton goal. *
