Letters: We're too soft on criminals

IS THERE any political body attuned to the epidemic of violent crime in this country? We seem to be enamored with the deaths of entertainment (MJ, Patrick Swayze) but mostly oblivious to the storekeepers or police officers.

Even more appalling is the prevalence of repeat offenders who have a history of crime leading up to their climactic masterpiece that claims a life - or two.

Defendants sit in court and snicker at the charges in the faces of victims' families. We don't have the right to take a life, so there is virtually no death penalty. (The criminals didn't get that memo.)

It's sad to live in a society that witnesses violent massacres in every location (schools, churches, arenas and military bases), yet continues to pacify the perpetrators via soft sentences, appeals and no threat of the ultimate consequence.

The death penalty is the only "chemotherapy" for the cancerous violence in America.

It may even lead to restoring the economy. Some offenders don't merit the $98 a day it takes to house them. We also pay for the emergency treatment for the gangsters and drug dealers who have no insurance but can't be denied care.

Walter Collins II, Philadelphia

We should strike SEPTA

We the people who did not receive raises or bonuses last year and will not receive them this year should ourselves strike SEPTA.

We the people had to pay the increased costs of health insurance, electric, gas, water and groceries this year on last year's no-increase-of-income.

Now that SEPTA employees have returned, maybe we should go out for at least a day.

If we survived the 1983 108-day strike or the seven-day strike in 2005, we can survive a one-day strike on SEPTA.

Let's all call in sick because of SEPTA. Wonder how much money they will lose? All in favor say, "We!"

Cheryl Jackson: Do you really think a one day boycott will hurt SEPTA employees? They are all for that. That's just less people they will have to be rude too. They could care less. They get paid the same regardless of how many people ride.

We should make prisoners work 40 hour weeks in prison and have their wages go directly to law abiding residents with no criminals records so those of us that abide by the law can pay lower taxes.

The FEDs need to get involved in the rest of the Murder and Crime Rates in "Killadelphia". They need to send "Teflon Ed" a "Target Letter" and investigate "The Rendell Murders". He's betrayed sacred public trust by shorting public safety to pay for his "No Bid" contracts and over$60 Million in "Inappropriate" Contracts(according to the State Auditor General, Jack Wagner)to his law firm, campaign contributors and "friends". We've Bled enough and Buried enough of our dead FOR YEARS to line his pockets. He get $250,000. per year from his law firm! Ladies and Gentilmen ...which is stronger...The Federal Criminal Justice System or Corrupted and Content Philadelphia? The President's Comment Line is 1-202-456-1111. The U.S. Attorney's Office in "Killadelphia" is 215-861-8200. State Parolees are responsible for our Murders and Crime Rates...Look at all news articles...like the PIAZZA MURDERS and Joe Frazier's Kin...the triggermen and Mastermind are State Parolees! The Mayor, City Council, State Legislature and State Attorney General (Tom Corbett) were all told, in writing, with evidence, OVER 18 MONTHS AGO AND THEY HAVE ALL DONE...NOTHING! 2,000 Inmates per month are being pushed back into our neighborhoods. State Parole Violators are NOT being sent back to prison for PAROLE VIOLATIONS. They are even being kept "on the street" when they are arrested and charged with NEW CRIMES! For every 1 State Parolee crime that makes the papers...over 100 don't. State Parole Board Chairman, Catherine McVey has repeatedly refused to provide State Auditors with requested information on Philadelphia PAROLE Agent Caseloads, which are over double that of other states and double the recommended Maximum…to hide her and her Boss’ crimes (Civil Rights Violations,Involuntary Manslaughter, etc). The frequency of STATE PAROLEE MURDERS is increasing...The next "Newswothy" State Parolee Murder is very certain and VERY SOON. Please make some calls...the life and family you save may well be your own.
