Easy, riders
A TRANSIT STRIKE anywhere can be devastating. But in a city known for its kind, compassionate, and helpful people . . .
Oh, wait. Wrong city. We're the ones who boo Santa.
Actually, we do believe our town is full of great and helpful people. So we urge you three to help each other during the SEPTA strike. In addition to the suggestions below, City Howl, a new Web site that allows citizens to review city services, has a "strike" page for people to exchange ideas (and maybe even rides.) Check it out on www.thecityhowl.com.
Meanwhile, use the bike lanes. Our 200 miles of bike lanes include two crosstown lanes eastbound on Pine Street and westbound on Spruce Street.
Share your ride. Find out if your co-workers need a lift and make the offer.
Give your employees a break if they come in late. Also, encourage your employees to work together to find ways to get to the office.
Techies, assemble! Already, folks at iSEPTA developed iPhone applications to search schedules. Time to take open-source software to the next level for an app. that helps people find a ride to work. Geeks, get on it!
