Letters: Stop Threatening us taxpayers

MAYOR Nutter and Council President Verna said that if the state doesn't approve the sales-tax hike they proposed, they'd have to lay off police and firemen and cut some city services.

Gov. Rendell says if he doesn't get his budget, 800 state police would be cut, and he's blaming the GOP.

They use scare tactics on the public, but sometimes it backfires. Rendell's term is up next year, so he can't run again. Nutter could be a one-term mayor. The economy is bad, times are tough for, but to put more on taxpayers is not answer.

Try better management, tighten your spending the same way we taxpayers have to.

Cutting cops and firefighters isn't the way. Go after deadbeats and taxpayers who aren't paying their share.
